The sky is the limit!

Hey all, I just wanted to share some wonderful news I received this morning. I am now the proud owner of a Bachelors of Science Degree with Honours in Forensic Psychology. I am so thrilled as I really thought I did not do as well in the last set of exams, but I guess I did. Hard work really does pay off, all that stress I experienced all seemed really worth while now. Additionally, I am so proud to be part of the graduates of 2015! Though
Most importantly, I'm just happy that I have made my parents proud even if we aren't on the best of terms.

Hopefully in about two weeks I will post pictures of me in my graduation attire, as I graduate on the the 6th of July.

I hope you are having a brilliant day!

First Experience: Professional assessment centre

First of all, all I can say is wow. It was definitely an eye opener and actually it motivated me more to go into this career path. I applied for a graduate position in recruitment, typical right? No. Most people just go into recruitment because they think it is easy and there's a lot of money. However, it really isn't and the assessment centre weeds out the weak people just to strengthen them up for their next assessment.

So during the assessment there was four tasks and at each level people would be eliminated. If you made it to the end you got an interview and even then you may still not have the job. I actually completed the forth task and I thought yay interview! But that was not the case. I was thanked for participating and wished good luck, boooooo! When we all started there were eleven people and six of us were graduates (six? For a graduate role) and by the fourth task there was four of us, and I was the only graduate left. The person who got the job has never even been to uni, which had the rest of us baffled because the job description and title emphasised they wanted 'graduates' so how did a non graduate get the job? God knows.

So us three who got rejected had a little discussion and came to a conclusion. It does seem a bit bitter of us but we all concluded that it was appearance wise and sadly your appearance is not something you can change.

Ah well, with the notes from this time, I hope I have better luck next time!

Life Lately

So last week I went on a day trip to London for a graduates fair, which was very informative and worth the travel. There were a lot of companies and universities there, though they were pretty much offering the same thing. Whilst I was waiting for my train back to the midlands, I stopped by the All one bar at Euston station and had some tapas, as well as a few long island ice teas as it was happy hour. What a nice place, its shame that it was so packed.

Then over the weekend (well 4days), I went to Manchester for some temp work. It was actually was supposed to be a weekend where I checked Manchester to see if, it is somewhere I could see myself living. It is safe to say that based on these last 4 days it's a no, as the people are just plain unaccommodating. When I was growing up I was taught manners such as, if someone new comes within your vicinity, for example at work or school, you say hi and welcome the person. Apparently these manners aren't universal.

Nevertheless, I have had interviews recently for graduate jobs and so far no luck. Though, I do have some this week in Manchester and London so yay! More traveling. Hopefully this time I remember to take pictures. I have actually have been to so many interviews, I actually do not know what I will do if I actually get the job.

So similarly to Manchester, I am also going to Derby for a week to see if I could see myself living there, whilst doing some temp work. Though, I highly doubt it will be as lively as London or Manchester so I'm going there with preconceptions.

Summer Reading 2015

Hey all, so it's that time of the year again where I can indulge in reading a good book for hours on end; without feeling guilty because I should be doing something more important like uni work. Now that is all done with, this summer I would like to read four books which are a bit of a weird amalgamation of genres and they are as follows:

☁ The night circus by Erin Morgenstern
☁ I am pilgrim by Terry Hayes
☁ The King by Tiffany Reisz
☁ The Oversight by Charlie Fletcher
☁ Day Four by Sarah Lotz
☁ Year of the Locust: A Thriller by Terry Hayes
☁ The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
☁ The Vacationers by Emma Straub

I have decided to get second handbooks whenever possible from Amazon. As last year I bought a bunch of new books, thinking I could sell them off after reading them and of course I still have some of them as no one wants to buy them; not even for 1p.

Nevertheless, I have just started on The Night circus by Erin Morgenstern and so far so it is just okay but I'm only on page 79. So I hope it does get exciting and worth the read. I look forward to reviewing it! And this year, I'll do proper reviews, in comparison to last year's quick paragraph.

Apologises for any grammatical or spelling errors as I have written this post during some down time, at my bar job.

I hope you are all enjoying summer so far!

7 Reasons why my weight loss fails.

Off topic* so I have been thinking about what I want my blog to contain and I have decided to keep it real personal. As, I am not much of a beauty or fashion blogger even though, I'm obsessed with beauty/fashion and the products associated with it.
So moving forward, I have been trying to lose weight for over a year now and I don't know if it's just me having my last growth spurt or I have really just gained weight. Thus, here are some reasons as to why I think I am not losing any weight:
1. No Weight-loss buddy
Whilst I have friends and they also are trying to lose weight. We have different goals and thus this can cause tension, which is not ideal when you are trying to eat out or when you are trying to decide which exercise to do together at the gym/home. Hence, I end up going to the gym on my own at maybe 1am when there is no one there as it is a 24hr gym, and dont stay as long.
2. Last few pounds
I always used to watch the biggest loser back when it was really big on TV. People would lose so much weight then get stuck at one point. I think I am also stuck, I would like to lose 5kg (11lbs) which is not a lot but that is the problem.
3. Wine
I do like my wine, usually red, but as we all know alcohol is weight-loss' archenemy. So in efforts to not give up the booze, I have cut down to just two to four glasses of red wine on a night out. Each small glass depending on the brand is about 80kcal in comprise to beer/cider which are approximately 200kcal.
4. Laziness
It's all well and good eating properly, but the exercise is what catches me out as I tend to procrastinate. Though, recently just decided to do weights only because pure cardio is a waste of time if you don't have much to lose.
5. Over eating 'healthy' food
It's still a really huge debate about what is 'healthy'. Nevertheless, I have cut out carbohydrates such as rice, pasta, bread and potatoes, great! Then I tend to overdo it with green beans, salads and 'lean' meat...not so great, complete overcorrection I know.
6.  Genes
I know there's a buzz about a fat gene and people using it as an excuse.  But, I have noticed that most women in my family have a bit of a tummy, and the area I want to lose is the tummy. In fact my mother has been on countless of diets trying to lose the tummy, and weight comes off everywhere else but the tummy. Its not rocket science, and it cant be attributed to environmental factors that we may all be exposed to, because we all live in different areas of the world.
7. Unwarranted opinions from others
This one is particularly frustrating for a number of reasons. Firstly, I am actually pretty small and I dress well enough to cover up the spare tire (or wine belly) and so people don’t understand why I am obsessive about counting calories. Secondly, a lot of people these days think they are all weight-loss or fitness experts. Lastly, comments from people who are already stick thin or people who insist they are only big boned; whilst I have no problem with the appearance of both extremes. I do have a problem with the health issues that come with the two extremes.
It's frustrating but all I can do is keep going at it and have patience.
Is anyone else having any weight issues?
